About Julie Evans for Texas District 64
A Positive Change For Texas
Julie was born in Corsicana, TX, into a third generation of Cajun railroad engineers and brakemen, and since that day, her family and friends say, "That girl has never met a stranger!" She attended Mildred ISD. After earning an Associate's Degree in Journalism from Navarro College, she moved to Denton to attend UNT. While there, she met the love of her life, her brother's best friend, Jack, and they moved to College Station to become Aggies. In 1990, Jack joined the Navy, and they moved to California to begin a new adventure of service
They moved to Maryland, where Jack worked at the NSA, and they began their family. They have a son, Nick, and two daughters, Maggie and Chelsea.
After leaving the Navy, they moved to Denton and quickly and firmly put down roots. Julie began two decades of volunteering in the kids' schools, assisting in their various sports teams and activities, and giving back to her community. Their three kids would go on to graduate from UNT.
The day her youngest started high school, she started as a substitute teacher in the Special Education classroom. It was a calling to her heart. She came to love her students, fellow teachers, and her teaching community with everything she had.
Julie retired in 2019 and started the adventure of becoming a mamére to her granddaughter, Nora. They spend time baking bread, collecting nature items, swimming, hiking, and learning together.
After 36 years of marriage and building their loving, nurturing family, Julie has learned that something worth creating requires sticking with it, hard work, dedication, and positivity. She is ready to make common-sense changes to improve the lives of Texans.
